New submergence experiment with Brassica napus

We have germinated 210 individuals of Brassica napus (canola, rape) for the upcoming submergence experiment. We are working with two genotypes reputedly with contrasting flood tolerance so it is going to be really exciting to see if the flood tolerance is related to gas film retention time, underwater photosynthesis or underwater respiration, which are the parameters that Dennis and I will focus on. I will keep you posted…

5-day-old seedling of two genotypes of Brassica napus (yellow or green cable ties). In two weeks, they should have developed the first set of true leaves, which is the target tissue we will be working with.
