We are slowly getting up and running after the complete lock-down

We have had to make some tough decisions over the past six weeks. All BSc project were redefined to theoretical projects. Trine and Emil both managed to carry out a few pilot experiments prior to the lock-down but they both had to change direction. Emil is doing a meta analysis of salt tolerance in wild wetland plants and crops whereas Trine continues her topic but with data provided by Elisa.

Unfortunately, the nice cultures of African rice and wild rice relatives had to be abandoned! However, Johan and Lucas are now both germinating seeds so we should have experimental materials ready in about 4-5 weeks. Max is now going to set up our new flame photometer so that we can measure sodium and calcium in plant tissues in the near future.

I have not been allowed back on campus since lab space is prioritized for early career scientist in order to prevent further delays on their project. Teaching is still 100% online and only time will show when we are allowed to assume normal operation in research and teaching.
