We have edited a special issue in Functional Plant Biology on flooding and hypoxia stress

Prof Sergey Shabala from the University of Western Australia serves as the editor-in-chief of Functional Plant Biology, and he  agreed to publish a special issue following the 2022 ISPLORE conference in Germany. We gathered a team of guest editors, namely Romy Schmidt-Schippers (University of Bielefeld, Germany), Angelika Mustroph (Bayreuth University, Germany), Daan Weits (Utrecht University, the Netherlands), Juan Jiménez (University of Copenhagen), and myself. We circulated invitations to contribute, and now that all the contributions are published, we feel immensely proud of the final results.

The special issue is entitled “Flooding Stress and Reponses to Hypoxia in Plants”, and CSIRO (the publisher) had kindly agreed to make all of the papers freely available online for a month, so hurry up and download the papers from the link below, since not all of them are Open Access.

A heartfelt thank you to all of the authors for your valuable contributions; they are greatly appreciated!

You can access the collection here: https://www.publish.csiro.au/fp/virtualissue/3422

Flooding and low O2 responses of plants constitute a compound stress and manifest at multiple levels. Therefore, a transdisciplinary research approach is required to understand stress responses and to utilise this knowledge in breeding attempts aimed at enhancing the flood resilience of our crops.
