We made to the cover of Journal of Experimental Botany AND New Phytologist
The paper on root responses to soil flooding in wild Oryza species was recently published in Journal of Experimental Botany as golden open access (LEFT) – get the paper here! It is really hard to take appealing photos of roots and so we simply submitted a couple of macro photos of flowering species. Even if these flowers are only distantly related to the content of the paper, the photos were nevertheless chosen by the journal office. And they look so great with the new colour scheme of JXB since the long awns on the species to the left are bright red!
The photo that made it to the cover of New Phytologist (RIGHT) was taken at the University of Kiel, and a similar photo has previously been used in one of Margret Sauter’s key publications. Therefore, we were extremely pleased that New Phytologist selected it for the cover of issue No. 4. Unfortunately, Margret did not live to see it published as she sadly passed away on the second day of January this year. We therefore dedicate the cover – and the exciting story – to her! The paper is golden open access and can be accessed from here!
